Apartment Review
You get what you pay for

Rent here is incredibly cheap but the condition of the apartments displays that you really get what you pay for. The cinderblock walls in the bedrooms (and some of the living rooms) reminds me of a prison. They are painted white, but it is impossible to hang art from cinderblock so that penitentiary feel will always remain. Cinderblocks also do not make for very good insulation. Our heating bill for ONE MONTH in the winter is more than $150. We are talking for a roughly 800 square foot two bedroom apartment. Construction is very cheap, windows are single paned and one of ours even has a lovely crack in it through which cold air seeps, causing our bill to climb even higher. While things are constantly breaking, the maintnance man is really on top of it. He's super friendly and fixes most everything within 1-2 days (one day for a simple fix, two days if he has to order a part). I've lived her about 8 months and he has had to visit the apartment more than 6 times. He's replaced our toilet, our hot water heater, our garbage disposal, our shower heads, and numerous other small fixes. The after hours answering service is prompt to get a hold of someone if the problem warrants immediate attention. Pet friendly, but beware of astronomical pet deposits, half of which are non-refundable. We are talking $200 PER cat and $400 PER dog. There is loads of parking, so space is never a problem, but my car has been hit twice now in the middle of the night. I'm not sure what kind of talent it takes to hit a parked car on a straight road, but other tennents have sure managed. Don't bring your beautiful car here! Theft has also become a recent problem. We've had a number of small inconsequential things stolen from our patio (honestly, who steals $0.99 candles and small area rugs?). Management does keep the community informed of possible going-ons (such as theft) through posting notices on doors warning residents to move or lock up valuable objects. If you're budget minded and don't mind freezing in the winter to keep your bills down, this is the place for you. It's a wonderful location, walking distance to CSU (1.5 miles) and also on the bus lines. If you're looking for upper class housing, don't stop here! |
