Apartment Review for Kensington Place - Fort Collins, CO

I lived on the middle floor of this 3-story hardwood floor only apartment builiding built in 1919. The heat is controlled by the landlord, via a boiler in the basement, and although you don't pay for the heat, which is run from hot water, you also can't control it and when it comes on, high pitched whistling noises come out of the radiator. I did not have heat for at least 3 months in the winter due to "fixing" of the boiler system. The beauty of the hardwood floors diminishes greatly when you try to sleep with someone walking above you. The only way I would recommend this apartment would be if you live on the 3rd floor. But you better like doing dishes, as there is no garbage disposal OR dishwasher. The view and location are great, and the fact that you get free cable, water and heat is a plus, but the rent still seems a bit high for what you deal with there. Also, the landlord never answers his phone, so hopefully there is never an emergency because he probably won't call back until the next day, unless you called first thing in the morning.
