Apartment Review for Antlers Hotel Old Town - Fort Collins, CO

Unique apartments! This building is an historic 104-year-old brick structure in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins, with shops, restaurants, and bars a few steps away. It was originally built as a hotel or short-stay apartment house for train travelers and local cowboys and farmers who came to town. The Antlers has been upgraded to have modern fire monitors and alarms and a fire sprinkler system. Beyond that, there is a real old-west feel to the place. Walking into the building transports you back to the late 1800s. There are about 20 small apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with cool retail shops on the street level. The hallways are decorated with antiques and artwork and there are sitting areas and a big back deck. The apartments themselves are small-ish, 2-3 room units. Each has a kitchenette. One unusual thing about the place is that each floor has two private bathrooms that are shared among the residents. This seems strange, but everyone is friendly and it works out well. The managers of the Antlers are benevolent caretakers who truly care for their residents (and know most of them by name). They make an effort to keep rents low. It is easy for residents to get to know one another in this friendly atmosphere. Small dinner parties and outdoor barbeques happen often. Of course, it is also easy to get up outings to participate in the various happenings in Old Town. Anyone who appreciates the vibrancy of Old Town, wants to live close to the action, and who appreciates our Colorado Western culture will love the Antlers. I do!
